Bunkshere Farm is a small private training facility in North Central Massachusetts specializing in starting young horses, and retraining horses with behavioral problems. Our training methods center around the horse/human relationship. We subscribe to the Natural, or as some would call it, True style of horsemanship made popular by Bill and Tom Dorrance, Ray Hunt, Buck Brannaman, and others.

Natural or True Horsemanship is a method of teaching and interacting with horses based on trust, respect and communication — in a language the horse can understand. We avoid the use of fear, intimidation or mechanical devices.

The work we do at Bunkshere Farm was designed to give horses a solid foundation on which to build. We start young horses on a path to a cooperative partnership with humans so they will be trusting, willing companions who follow dependable leaders. We restart horses with behavior problems in much the same manner.

Weekly Group Sessions
Bruce Guinard will be offering group sessions on Tuesday, Thursday and Friday afternoons from April through the end of July. For more information please contact him at: bguinard@bunkshere.com or by phone at: (978) 928-4846

Monthly Training
Horses are accepted for boarded training (they stay at Bunkshere Farm) on a flat fee monthly basis. Typical stays range from 2-3 months. Because we are a small private facility, we accept only 1-2 outside horses at any one time. Scheduling a horse for training typically needs to be done 3-6 months ahead of time. For more information on monthly training, contact us.

Individual Training Sessions
Bunkshere Farm also offers individual training session on an hourly basis. Each session typically lasts 2-3 hours. Scheduling a horse for a training session typically needs to be done 2-3 weeks ahead of time. For more information on training sessions, contact us.

Clinics
In addition to private training, Bunkshere Farm offers a variety of clinics open to the general public each year.

Bruce Guinard has been riding and working with horses virtually his entire life.

Born and raised in Massachusetts, he did not grow up roping and working cattle on a ranch. He did learn early-on that to be truly safe on a horse, the horse had to have confidence in itself and its rider. Establishing that confidence and nurturing it to develop a relaxed, and willing partner is what Bruce calls foundation training.

Bruce’s clinics are a great introduction to what has come to be called natural or true horsemanship.

Throughout the year Bruce takes horses in for private training at Bunkshere Farm in Hubbardston, MA. The horses are started on a path to a cooperative partnership with humans so they will be trusting, willing companions who follow dependable leaders. In the later stages of training Bruce works with the horse’s owners to help them understand their horse and become dependable leaders.

From March – October Bruce holds small, one-day clinics at Bunkshere Farm, where riders can work with their own horses, improve their horsemanship, have fun with their horse, learn to solve problems, and be safe. Bruce travels to present clinics by special arrangement.
